On June 17, 1885, 130 years ago today, the Statue of Liberty arrived in New York Harbor on the French steamer Isère (the arm and torch had arrived in 1876). The ship was greeted by a flotilla of boats and hundreds of thousands of people lined the docks. This photo was probably taken the following year just before the dedication.
